LITCHFIELD, N.Y. -- Twenty years after her disappearance, the search for Sara Anne Wood could soon resume.

The 12-year-old girl was abducted in 1993 while riding her bike home from summer school at a church about a mile away from her house in Litchfield. She was never seen again.

To this day, her abduction remains one of the most well known cases in Central New York.

Lewis Lent, a handyman from Massachusetts, was convicted of murdering Wood. He did give State Police information on Wood, saying he had left her body in an area near Raquette Lake in the Adirondacks. But despite a lengthy search, State Police and volunteers were never able to bring Sara home.

Now, State Police investigators say they are ready to take another crack at the case with Herkimer County's new District Attorney. They plan to conduct another ground search once the snow clears and will re-hash old evidence to see what might come up.

We have heard from the family of Sara Anne Wood on this latest look at the case. Her brother, Dusty, offered this statement on behalf of the family:

"The Wood Family is always thinking of all families of missing children. We consider ourselves one community and any possibility of closure for any of those missing is important to us."
