WAMPSVILLE, N.Y. -- Many local municipalities have taken a stance on the issue of gun control. Tuesday, it was Madison County's turn to pass a resolution opposing the SAFE Act. County Legislators voted 14 to 4 in favor of the measure.

They say they don't expect their vote to shake things up in Albany, but they hope their local representatives are paying attention.

"I hope that at least our State Senator and State Assemblyman see this that, as they do, we represent 72,000 people in Madison County and we've taken a vote and passed it. And hopefully they'll take it to heart and reopen it," said John Becker, Madison County Board of Legislature Chairman.

Madison County is not alone either. In the past few weeks both Oswego County and Herkimer County have each passed resolutions with similar opposition to the law.
