UNITED STATES -- Self-professed sports fan Chuck Polinsky says, "I'm from Pittsburgh, so typically I root for all my Pittsburgh teams. Thank goodness the University of Pittsburgh is going to be in the Atlantic Coast Conference next year!"
Clinical psychologist William McCann says that sports are generally a good thing. He says, "For most people, it's a wonderful experience. It brings communities and families together. For some people, they lose balance in their lives. Their involvement in sports takes over too much."
McCann has seen some folks that spend 40 or more hours a week involved with sports. He says, "Look at how much time a day you're watching, listening, reading, talking. They estimate that for Fantasy Football, that's an hour a day during the season."
Experts say you should ultimately take a look at how sports have an impact on both your social and family life, and then evaluate whether it's too much.
McCann says, "You do a gradual reduction, just an hour or two a week; but the other thing is, you need to replace it with something else, something important and fun." So kick back and enjoy the game, just not too much!
Sports fan Sue Fenton says, "We love sports, big Badger fan. We cheer for the Packers and the Vikings - too bad they didn't make it to the Super Bowl this year."
Polinsky says, "For a guy, it's a good outlet!"
