MARYLAND -- A military judge has reduced the potential sentence for a former Fort Drum soldier accused of sending thousands of classified documents to Wikileaks.

Private First Class Bradley Manning will get 112 days off any prison sentence if he's convicted. A military judge ruled that Manning suffered illegal pretrial punishment during the nine months he spent in Virginia. He was confined to a windowless cell 23 hours a day, sometimes with no clothing.

Officials claimed it was to protect the suspect from harming himself or others.

The defense wanted charges against Manning dropped. He's been charged with aiding the enemy and 21 other offenses.

Manning's trial starts in March.
