ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Liverpool man who kidnapped his daughter and took her overseas is now headed to prison. Jeffrey Shipman was sentenced Friday to two and a half years behind bars, as well as one year of supervised release.
He was the subject of an international manhunt after abducting his four-year-old daughter, Deonna, back in 2007. Authorities tracked Shipman to London, but the trail went cold until last year when he turned himself in while living in Thailand.
Deonna has been returned to her mother.
Shipman could have received up to three years in prison for international parental kidnapping.
