The North County's ski resorts are now running at full steam. That means lots of people will take advantage of the holidays and head up to the mountains. Barry Wygel took to a trip to the slopes to check out the conditions.

This year, Titus Mountain opens its brand new ski lodge and an additional 15 trails.

"There's a lot of enthusiasm for the mountain being under new ownership. The new owners have invested a lot of money to upgrade a lot of the facilities," said Savage.

"It's pretty great. I've been coming here since I was a kid. This is nice," said Tod Golden, a frequent skier.

Golden has been bringing his family to the mountain for years, a story echoed all over the mountain.

While the mountain certainly has a dedicated group of followers from this area, they are always trying to bring people in from the surrounding regions.

"People come down from the suburbs of Montreal and from Ottawa. We've seen more traffic from the Watertown area also in recent years with the growth of Fort Drum," said Savage.

While the conditions may be hard to predict for the rest of the season, the people at Titus said that it wouldn't be their last time at the mountain.

"We'll be here as much as we can," said Golden.

"Definitely, I'm in ski club at my school so we'll be coming up every Thursday," said Brinn Golden, Tod's daughter.

Titus may be getting more business as one of the other large ski mountains in the North Country, Big Tupper, is not opening this year. But there never was direct competition between the mountains.

"We almost would prefer Big Tupper would be open, because it creates an additional attraction to bring people in from outside the Adirondacks," said Savage.

Big Tupper is hoping to reopen in the future.
