Known gang member accused of aiming gun at police

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A known gang member was arrested Tuesday after police say he aimed a gun at two Syracuse Police detectives.

According to investigators, Terrell Wright, 28, was walking with his brother on the 1500 block of East Fayette Street when two detectives pulled over after recognizing Antwan Wright as a possible suspect in a recent crime.

Before the detectives exited their vehicle, Terrell Wright allegedly pulled a loaded handgun with laser sight out of his waistband and pointed it directly at them. The detectives jumped out of their car and ordered Wright to drop the gun. Instead, he turned and ran, beginning a lengthy foot chase.

Wright was eventually taken into custody on Maple Street, where he fought with officers. Police say the weapon was recovered. They have charged the 28-year-old with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, menacing a police officer and resisting arrest.

Antwan Wright has not been charged at this time.
