ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- A North Country man accused of digging up land at the former GM plant in Massena pleaded guilty. Larry Thompson was charged with criminal mischief.

Officials say Thompson, a member of the Onkehonwe Signatory Tribe, dug up the land with an excavator and dropped contaminated soil at the feet of New York State troopers.

Thompson was previously charged with resisting arrest and reckless endangerment in connection with the case, but those charges were dropped.
