BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- People die every year in drunk driving crashes during the holiday season. Agencies on the national and local levels do what they can to get the message out to young drivers about the dangers of drinking and driving.

That's the push behind a returning favorite in Broome County, the 12th annual Stop DWI Holiday Classic. The lineups for this year's tourney were announced Tuesday.

High school teams from across the country participate, but this isn't just any tournament. Students and coaches will also take part in sessions led by attorneys, police, and people impacted by DWI.

"It's basketball with a message. So, our two goals are to put on the best tournament in not only the Northeast, but the east coast in the holiday season. And, also to make sure the athletes both nationally and regionally get a message about the dangers about impaired driving, being drunk driving as well as drugged driving, anything from prescription drugs to illicit drugs," said Christopher Marion, Stop DWI Coordinator.

This year's tournament will start on Friday, December 28th through Sunday December 30th. For more information, visit http://www.bcstopdwi.com/bcstopdwi/classic.
