Former police officer pleads not guilty to DWI

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The Binghamton police officer who resigned after being charged with a DWI has pleaded not guilty.

Officials say Christopher Stoeckel was released from court after pleading not guilty to a DWI charge Wednesday.

Stoekel was arrested by Binghamton Police shortly after he arrived to work in mid-October. He was immediately suspended without pay and submitted his resignation less than two weeks later.

Stoekel worked for the police department for four years. He's due back in court on December 19th.
