Man pleads guilty to robbing fire Central New York banks

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A Syracuse man has pleaded guilty to robbing five banks during a three month span.

Brandon Rothenburgh, 34, admitted to breaking into five banks located in Gates, Rome, and Auburn. He is facing up to 15 years in prison.

The plea deal requires Rothenburgh to pay nearly $345,000 in fines and restitution. He will also have to forfeit the Cadillac he bought with the stolen money.

Officials say Rothenburgh did not work alone. He was arrested in September with his co-conspirator James Nicholson.

Charges against Nicholson are pending.
