Jefferson County DSS employee charged under Leandra’s Law
JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- A children's social worker for Jefferson County Social Services has been arrested for driving drunk with a child in the car.
Aimee Cooley, 41, was pulled over Sunday on Interstate 81. Police said at the time, she had a blood alcohol content more than three times the legal limit. An 11-year-old boy was also riding with hem resulting in a felony charge of aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law.
The Department of Social Services Commissioner says that Cooley remains employed there, but her status is being reviewed.
Cooley is a caseworker with the child protective unit.
