ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Central New Yorkers are a step closer to being able to walk all the way around Onondaga Lake. The county legislature approved $1.25 million in funding for the "Loop the Lake" trail.
The funding will be used to improve the West Shore Trail, and put up a pedestrian bridge over a railroad tracks on the lake's southwest shoreline. Once the improvements are complete, the trail will total 7.5 miles from Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool to just north of Nine Mile Creek.
The construction on the bridge won't begin until Honeywell completes their lake cleanup project.
