MARCY, N.Y. -- Autopsy results have confirmed the cause of death of a woman who drowned in a pond in Marcy, but investigators are still searching for clues as to how it happened. The body of Debra Sedigh, 52, of Utica was found in a small pond off Seavy Road around 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Police said Sedigh was dating the property owner, who is cooperating with their investigation.
But, police still have questions as to how she ended up in the pond.

"The thing that makes it suspicious is that it wasn't like she fell off a boat or a pier," said Captain Mark Lincoln, New York State Police Bureau of Investigation. "There was nobody that we found that saw her go in the water, so we have to try and pin down the time frame that this might have occurred and the events that led up to it to determine if there's anything more than an accidental drowning."

Police said they are still looking into witnesses who may have seen what happened to sort out if the death was criminal or accidental.
