Police identify body found in Raquette River
POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Potsdam Police have identified the victim who's body was found in the Raquette River as a Clarkson University student. Police said a search was launched around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday when reports of a college-aged male was hit by a train on the bridge, just off Sandstone Drive near Clarkson's campus.
At around 11:30 a.m., search and rescue crews located the body of Shanith A. Samarasekera, 20, of Las Vegas, in the river. His death remains under investigation, and an autopsy report has been scheduled for Sunday evening.
