NEW YORK -- The candidates for US Senate in New York will take part in a debate tonight in the Capital Region.

Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand is looking to win her first six year term in the Senate. She was appointed to the Senate by then-Governor David Paterson back in 2009 after Hillary Clinton was appointed to President Obama's cabinet. She won a race in 2010 to finish out Clinton's term.

Gillibrand is taking on Republican challenger Wendy Long. She won a three way primary back in June to get on to November's ballot. Long says she wants to focus on the economy and job creation.

YNN will carry the debate between Senator Gillibrand and Wendy Long at Skidmore College at 7 p.m. You can watch it live, or right here at YNN.com.
