COOLBAUGH, Pa. -- Officials are now saying a helicopter crash near Scranton, Pennsylvania happened because of bad weather.

Investigators say the crew hit the weather on their way back from a golf outing in Elmira. The pilot reportedly got lost and was attempting to land at Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport at the time of the crash.

Two people were killed and a third was seriously injured.

Pocono Regional Police say the helicopter crashed at about 8 p.m. Tuesday in Coolbaugh Township, about 25 miles southeast of Scranton.

The wreckage was located in the woods off Interstate 380 around 2 a.m. Wednesday after the surviving passenger called for help.

Officials say the helicopter is registered to ACS Helicopters in Far Hills, New Jersey.

There's no word yet on the identities of those involved.
