SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- It's not often that you'll find so many well-known artists all under one roof, but that's what's happening tonight. A day after the Dalai Lama conducted discussions on peace, he now will be part of tonight's highly anticipated event in the Carrier Dome.
Officials with World Harmony Productions say about 24,000 people are expected at tonight's concert. Once the Dalai Lama committed to visit SU, that helped attract some high profile names to perform at tonight's event.
The goal of the event is again to shine some light on world peace and to enlighten guests with the ongoing effort to make the world a better place.
Dave Matthews, the Counting Crows, Nelly Furtado, Cyndi Lauper, Natasha Bedingfield and David Crosby are among those scheduled to be part of the concert. The event will be emceed by Whoopi Goldberg.
"There's a lot of interesting people but a lot of people that have focused on peace within their songs and those will be the kinds of songs you see as well as a public address by the Dalai Lama," said Mark Emery, World Harmony Productions.
Tickets are still available for tonight's event by visiting the Carrier Dome box office or Ticketmaster.com. Tickets range from $35 to $200.
Tonight’s concert begins at 7 p.m. and you're advised that parking is not available around the Dome. Visitors can try to park at Sky Top or Manley Field House, where you can find a shuttle to bring you to the Dome.
