Meningitis outbreak spreads across the nation
NATIONWIDE -- There has been an outbreak of fungal meningitis that is spreading across the nation. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed more than 90 cases, and a death toll that stands at 7.
The outbreak is linked to a steroid commonly used to ease back pain, which has been recalled. Health officials said that nine states have reported cases, and New York is not one of them. However, some of the medication was shipped to parts of New York.
