ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- Congressman Bill Owens visited the North Country on Monday, making two stops in St. Lawrence County. He visited AA Kingston Middle School in Potsdam and the Poulin grain plant in Canton.
Owens toured the school and visited a fifth grade class to give the children a lesson on what he does every day in Washington.
At the Poulin plant, which makes bulk animal food, he met with the plant manager and discussed issues facing the agricultural industry.
"I'm happy to show the place to anyone and it's such a unique business and I like to show it to others and show what the facility is," said Dave Barton, Poulin grain plant manager.
Among the topics discussed by Owens was the farm bill, which is set to expire if Congress doesn't act.
Republican challenger Matt Doheny is hoping to unseat Owens in the November election.
