POTSDAM, N.Y. -- One man was injured in a tractor trailer-motorcycle crash in St. Lawrence County. It happened on State Highway 72 in the Town of Potsdam around 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

Sheriff's deputies say Jesse Ferguson was driving a tractor trailer southbound on the highway when he attempted to pass a vehicle parked on the side of the highway. Ferguson drove into the oncoming lane of traffic hitting Ronald Swinyer who was driving a motorcycle.

Swinyer was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital then taken by Medivac to Fletcher-Allen Hospital in Burlington, Vermont for extensive leg and body trauma.

Ferguson was not injured in the crash.

The accident is still under investigation and Sheriff's deputies say charges are pending.
