JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Jefferson County Sheriff's department is investigating a two vehicle crash in the Town of Leray Friday evening.

The accident at the intersection of U.S. Route 11 and U.S. Route 342 closed the northbound lanes of Route 11 in front of a McDonald’s and the Watertown Microtel.

Investigators say a pickup truck hit a minivan carrying a family of five.

Several people were taken to the hospital and at least one was airlifted to a Syracuse Hospital.
