AURORA, CO -- Police in Colorado release new details about Friday's early morning shooting at a movie theater outside of Denver, that killed 12 people and injured 70 others. It happened during a showing of "The Dark Knight Rises".
Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said the bodies of the last victims were cleared out of the theater by 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
Police said James Holmes, 24, a student at the University of Colorado, released a canister of gas, then began shooting randomly. Police arrested him within minutes outside the theater.
When officials arrived at his apartment, they found it booby trapped with bombs, and they're now working to disarm them, before moving in to search.
"In the last 60 days he purchased four guns at local metro gun shops. Through the internet he purchased over 6,000 rounds of ammunition," said Dan Oates, Aurora Police Chief.
Holmes will be arraigned in court on Monday morning.
