WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- Last week at a concert in Watertown, country music superstar Blake Shelton helped present the USO with a million dollar check from JC Penney.
Shelton performed as part of the DPAO summer concert series, meeting with Fort Drum's soldiers and families before the show. That's when he presented the massive check.
But that's not where it ends. The USO says it can still get $50,000 more from JC Penney's JCP Cares program. For every person who uses the FourSquare app to check into a JC Penney during the week of July 23 to the 31st, a dollar will be donated up to $50,000.
Blake Shelton says he hopes people continue to help the military based organization.
"Supporting the USO is second nature to me. My dad was a Korean War veteran. My brother was a veteran of the Army. It's a charity that's near and dear to my heart," Shelton said.
More than 300 soldiers and family members were able to get backstage and meet Blake Shelton Friday night.
