CANTON, N.Y. -- Canton School District’s $15 million capital improvement project is underway.

Crews began removing asbestos from the crawlspace under the school Monday. It's the first step in a project that will replace the heating and ventilation systems and take care of structural and security concerns in the middle school.

The high school track is also being repaired.

Asbestos abatement is expected to be completed by early August. Then crews can move on to the next phase of repairs.
