NEW YORK STATE -- Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and federal officials have announced the development of a new database to combat consumer financial frauds directed at military members, veterans or their families.

The Repeat Offenders Against Military, or ROAM, database is the first of its kind. The database will track enforcement actions against companies and people who repeatedly scam military personnel and their families.

This comes just months after Schneiderman secured a $3.5 million settlement against Rome Finance Company, Incorporated for targeting military members in the sales and financing of high priced electronics through a company known as SmartBuy.

Law enforcement officials across the country, including state Attorneys General, United States Attorneys and Judge Advocates from all five branches of the armed forces will be able to search the ROAM database.
