School locked down after student brings what appeared to be home-made bomb
St. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- A high school student was arrested after bringing what looked like a home-made bomb to school. It happened Tuesday in the Hammond School District.
Superintendent Doug McQueer says the student, whose name has not been released, brought a test tube with black powder and a fuse in it to school, which looked like a home-made bomb. McQueer says the student also had multiple knives including a machete.
The school immediately went into lockdown and state police arrested the student.
The superintendent says the student is a good kid who made a bad decision. He doesn't think there was a threat and says the student probably brought the stuff in to show off to his friends.
School will resume Wednesday morning.
