The Wayne Oxley trial continues into the second week, but they still have a long way to go. Our Cara Thomas tells us two more witnesses told the jury on Monday what they remember from the night Bernard Trickey Jr. was killed.

ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- The second week of testimony in the Wayne Oxley case began Monday and two people took the stand. Oxley is charged with second degree murder after authorities say he beat his neighbor, Bernard Trickey Jr., to death with a baseball bat at his home in Ogdensburg back in 2005.

A local Ogdensburg resident took the stand. Tommy Austin testified that around 1 a.m. on the morning of the murder, he heard a man scream. He told the jury later that morning, he was driving home from a bar when two people stopped him and told him Trickey was murdered. It was then that he assumed the scream he heard was Trickey. The defense argued Austin could not have possibly known which house the scream came from and drew attention to discrepancies in Austin's testimonies from the past two trials.

Also taking the stand, Lieutenant Andrew Kennedy of the Ogdensburg Police Department. He was a detective assigned to this case. During his testimony, Kennedy identified the baseball bat he discovered in the basement of Wayne Oxley's old house as the alleged murder weapon. He also confirmed that John Shannon, a key witness in the trial, gave information to police that pointed the investigation toward Oxley, but says Oxley was cooperative and willingly allowed the police to search his home.

The trial seems to be taking a toll on the jury. One juror spoke to Judge Richards about having a nightmare related to the case. The juror will remain on the trial and promised the court to remain unbiased.

The trial will continue Tuesday.
