ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- Another full day of deliberations comes to an end and still no verdict in the murder re-trial of Wayne Oxley.
Oxley is accused of beating his neighbor, Bernard Trickey Jr., to death in 2005. He was convicted of murder in 2006, but it was overturned last year.
But the day did not end without controversy. Friday morning, the acting commissioner of jurors said she witnessed the jury no longer deliberating in their chambers. In fact, she said they were hanging out and scratching off lottery tickets.
The jury told the judge that was not the case. They said they were indeed deliberating. This accusation came just one day after the jury told the judge they were deadlocked. But the judge said they hadn't deliberated long enough.
Jurors will continue to deliberate Monday morning.
