Defense calls Oxley's friend, neighbor to the stand
Nearly four weeks in to the Wayne Oxley murder trial the defense is now calling witnesses to testify after the prosecution rested its case Thursday.

Oxley, 40, of Ogdensburg is accused of killing his neighbor, Bernard Trickey, with a baseball bat last year.

Friday, Oxley's friend, Travis Howe, took the stand. He told the jury he drank with Oxley the night before the murder. Howe also testified Oxley had a "nice buzz" by 11 p.m.

A neighbor of Oxley's also took the stand, claiming the night before the murder she saw Oxley and John Shannon outside of Oxley's house. Shannon was found dead in a mysterious house fire one month after Trickey was murdered.

So far, more than 25 people have testified, and more will be called to the stand when the trial continues Monday.
