High school hoops star Breanna Stewart got the baseball season started in Syracuse Thursday by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before the Chiefs' 2012 opener against Rochester at Alliance Bank Stadium.

The top-ranked Cicero-North Syracuse girls basketball team ended its standout season and Breanna Stewart ended her standout career with a no-doubt victory on Sunday, claiming the program's first Federation title with a 60-28 rout of Murry Bergtraum from New York City.

The Bishop Ludden boys basketball team fell to Collegiate prep in the Class B Federation final in Albany Saturday, 62-52. Ben Hackett had a team-high 17 points for the Gaelic Knights. They end their season 23-3.

The Lady Northstars advance to the Class AA Federation final with an 80-55 win over Nazareth, (Brooklyn) where they'll face Murry Bergtraum. Breanna Stewart had 41 points in the contest.

Ben Hackett and Dan Kaigler propelled the Gaelic Knights into the Class B Federation championship in a 66-59 victory over Nazareth. Hackett led Ludden with 24 points while Kaigler had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Gaelic Knights won their first state championship since 1994 on Saturday, and now they're trying to do something they've never done, win a Federation championship. Ludden will take on Nazareth out of Brooklyn on Friday.
