The Spa Spot: Rachel's foal named Jess's Dream

Stonestreet owner Barbara Banke announced Friday that the name Jess's Dream has been selected for Rachel Alexandra's first foal, a colt sired by Curlin.
Banke, is the widow of Jess Jackson, who purchased Curlin and Rachel Alexandra during their racing careers. Curlin was the Horse of the Year in 2007 and 2008 and Rachel Alexandra was named Horse of the Year for 2009.
Rachel Alexandra, whose brilliant 2009 campaign included a win over older males in the Woodward at Saratoga, was retired in 2010. Jackson had her bred to Curlin in 2011, but he died two months later and did not see the first foal of his two stars.
Banke announced in February that fans would be able to submit names for the foal. More than 6,600 entries were received, she said, and 220 suggested Jess's Dream. It was selected, Banke said, because it described Jackson's desire to breed the champions.
