SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- More than $11 million in state funding has been restored to Syracuse City Schools.

The district was one of ten across the state to have its School Improvement Grant suspended last month for failing to agree with unions on the new evaluation system for teachers and principals.

Wednesday, Commissioner John King announced that funding had been restored to Syracuse and four other districts, after each submitted acceptable teacher evaluation and support agreements.

The eleven and a half million dollars supports 60 full time positions, direct services to students, teachers and coaches, as well as extended day learning programs at Delaware Academy School, Grant and Hughes Middle Schools, and Corcoran, Fowler, Henniger and Nottingham High Schools.
